Ruth London Transformational Impact Award
Margaret McCausland

Peggy is a self-employed labor and employment lawyer. Together with her partner, Trish McCausland (who is also her daughter), Peggy focuses her practice on providing advice, counsel and corporate training to employers in an effort to help them avoid costly litigation. She also handles employment-related litigation, contract negotiations and corporate investigations.

She has been recognized by her peers as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer for the past fifteen years. Peggy was the recipient of the 2004 Citizens Pro Bono Award given by the Philadelphia Bar Foundation of the Philadelphia Bar Association — the second attorney ever to be awarded this honor. Peggy was named a Woman of Distinction by the Philadelphia Business Journal and the National Association of Women Business Owners in 2001. She is the President of the Forum of Executive Women, of which she has been a member since 2002, and also in 2002 co-founded CeaseFire PA, an organization devoted to ending gun violence in our communities.

As a volunteer attorney for the Support Center for Child Advocates, Peggy has provided pro bono legal representation for abused and neglected children for over twenty-five years. Working in collaboration with a Support Center social worker, she continually carried a minimum of one case. Before joining our board, Peggy began donating countless hours to Robins’ Nest providing pro bono legal work and training in the HR area. She continues to provide sound legal advice and human resource training for our agency’s staff.

“I have been proud to support Robins Nest since I learned about it more than 25 years ago — the world is a better place because of Robins’ Nest and its wonderful, dedicated staff. Robins’ Nest has, from its inception more than 50 years ago, protected children in need and demonstrated to them that they are loved and valued — which has enabled those children to grow into loving, caring adults who break the cycle of abuse and neglect that so often follows when a child grows up feeling unloved.”

Spirit of Community Award
Nancy Kowalik

Charmed by the historic downtown, close-knit community and top-tiered school district, Nancy Kowalik made Mullica Hill her home twenty-five years ago. Today, she is owner and broker of the successful, boutique real estate agency Nancy Kowalik Real Estate Group. Headquartered in a distinctive 300-year-old Victorian on Main Street, Kowalik has built her business in the heart of her community. Nancy’s professional career began in marketing with Philadelphia Radio; first as a local salesperson, but quickly growing into National Sales Manager for Greater Philadelphia Radio. Once she decided on starting a family, she opened a small business on Main Street in Mullica Hill. It was the sale of this property that eventually propelled her into Real Estate. Today, Nancy Kowalik Real Estate Group is one of South Jersey’s fastest growing boutique real estate agencies. An extremely active member of her community, Nancy enjoys participating in local events, supporting the community, and spending time with her two children.

“As a longtime resident of South Jersey, I’ve always placed great importance on being involved in the community. It is incredible to see the many ways we come together to help others, support great causes, and make this a wonderful place to live. Robins’ Nest is an organization that plays a huge role in these efforts. With over 80 programs serving children, veterans, disadvantaged adults, and more, they are constantly supporting the people in our community by giving them opportunities to succeed in every way possible.”

She was instrumental in the planning and execution of the fundraiser, which raised over $35,000 for Robins’ Nest. This experience first cultivated her interest in community outreach, philanthropy and volunteerism. Today Niki continues to volunteer for Robins’ Nest. Her enthusiasm for the organization translates to others knowing about and supporting Robins’ Nest.

In addition to Robins’ Nest, Niki serves as an elected member of the Drexel University Alumni Board of Governors – where she graduated with both her graduate and undergraduate degrees.
