Why I Give - Mark Moore

Here's an insider's look into why Mark Moore has shared his time and talents to further our mission since 2013.
When did you get involved with Acenda?
2013
What attracted you to the Acenda mission?
I love the way they give back and serve kids, teens, and young adults to improve the quality of their life.
What motivates you to stay involved? In your opinion, what is the more important work that Acenda does?
I’m motivated to stay involved because no adolescent or young adult deserves to be left to fend for themselves. I believe the most important work Acenda does is provide a place to live for foster kids and the life skills they teach to young adults.
Why do you volunteer/donate?
As a teenager, I was lost, and mentors changed my life. Mentors served as a positive role model for me, like a father-figure. My wife and I don’t have any kids, so being a mentor to others is my way of being a father to those that need it most.
What do you hope Acenda will achieve in the near future? In the long term?
Programs that will equip more people and give them a second chance to rebuild a life that someone else broke.
Why is being a donor so important to you?
I believe the secret to living is giving and making a difference in someone’s life is the best gift you could give them and yourself.
