Our Choices Intensive Outpatient Program (Choices IOP) serves mothers in recovery with children ages 17 and under.

Eligibility
To be eligible for Choices IOP, you must:
- Have a primary substance use disorder diagnosis
- Be uninsured or under-insured
- Have children aged 17 and under
- Meet ASAM criteria for outpatient and intensive outpatient level of care
What to Expect

Reaching Out
To receive Choices IOP services, you can call the Acenda Access Center at 833-584-9165 or request to make an appointment on our website. You will be contacted by a Choices IOP staff member within 48 hours to arrange your intake session.

Initial Meeting
During your intake session, you will complete an assessment and evaluation of your presenting needs and well-being. Recovery staff will assist you in formulating a treatment plan and goals to set you up for success.

Moving Forward with Care
You will meet with your therapist weekly at a time that fits your schedule. On average, clients attend 12-14 sessions over four to six months for treatment. Choices IOP’s trained therapists and counselors will provide specialized, evidence-based care tailored to your individual needs.

No, services are available to individuals with private insurance, Medicaid, and those who are eligible for DMHAS fee for service.
How do I qualify for Choices IOP?

Do I need a referral to participate in Choices IOP?
No. You do not need a referral to get started. You can contact Acenda’s Access Center directly to schedule an assessment. During your intake, our team will determine whether Choices IOP is the appropriate level of care based on your individual needs and the ASAM criteria.
Can my children be involved in my treatment?
Yes. Choices IOP recognizes the important role families play in recovery. When appropriate, family involvement and supportive services may be incorporated into your treatment plan to strengthen relationships, improve communication, and support long-term recovery for both you and your children.
What happens during a typical treatment session?
Treatment may include individual counseling, group therapy, recovery education, relapse prevention strategies, and skill-building activities. Your therapist will tailor your treatment plan to your goals, helping you build healthy coping skills, strengthen recovery, and address challenges that may affect your well-being.
What happens after I complete the program?
As you near the end of treatment, your care team will work with you to develop an aftercare plan. This may include referrals to ongoing counseling, recovery support services, community resources, or other behavioral health programs to help you maintain your progress and continue your recovery journey.
Can I continue working or attending school while participating in Choices IOP?
Yes. Choices IOP offers flexible scheduling, including telehealth options when appropriate, to help participants balance treatment with work, school, parenting, and other responsibilities. Your treatment team will work with you to develop a schedule that supports both your recovery and your daily commitments.
