The Intensive Family Support Services (IFSS) program is designed for families with a loved one struggling with a severe mental health concern or substance use disorder. Services are offered in-person and virtually and include educational sessions and support groups.

What to Expect 

  • Reaching Out

    You can request services through the IFSS program by calling the Acenda Access Center at (833) 584-9165.  

  • Arranging Services

    You will be contacted by the Access Center within 48 hours after a referral is received and can enroll in IFSS immediately. Once enrolled, you can participate in all IFSS education and support groups.

  • Moving Forward with Care

    You can stay enrolled in the IFSS program for as long as you find the services to be helpful. You can attend services at the level of support that you want and need.

What will happen to my family member if they are committed to the hospital? 

IFSS staff will review the New Jersey commitment law with family members.

Should I allow my loved one to move back home with me after being hospitalized? 

The IFSS team will assess the family’s safety and provide resources to the family based on their assessment.

Who can I call if I have an emergency?

IFSS staff recommend that families call 911 for an emergency.

How do I qualify for IFSS services?

How long can my family continue receiving support?

There is no set time limit for participation. Families can remain enrolled in IFSS for as long as they find the program helpful and continue accessing services that meet their changing needs.
