Adult Partial Care
Adult Partial Care is an acute-care supportive program for individuals who have recently been recently hospitalized or experienced a mental health crisis. Here, you’ll find a safe space to connect with peers, handle community appointments, receive medication management, and engage in social and psychoeducational groups led by our clinical staff.

Eligibility
To be eligible for Adult Partial Care services, you must:
- Be an adult
- Have a serious and persistent mental health diagnosis
- Have had at least one psychiatric hospitalization or visit to psychiatric screening within the past 18 months
You are not eligible for Adult Partial Care if your primary diagnosis is substance use, Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD), or Autism Spectrum Disorder.
What to Expect

Reaching Out
After you have contacted Acenda’s Adult Partial Care program, you will be scheduled for a two-part intake, meeting with a therapist and Advanced Practice Nurse.

Arranging Services
After intake, an Acenda team member will help coordinate your start date, schedule, and any transportation needs.

Moving Forward with Care
You will begin by attending Adult Partial Care four to five times a week, gradually reducing to three once you feel more settled and reconnected with your community.
FAQ’s
What does Adult Partial Care cost?
The Adult Partial Care program is covered by most insurances, including Medicaid. If not, alternative options for coverage are available.
How many days do I have to come in?
You will begin by attending Adult Partial Care four to five days a week. If you have recently been released from an inpatient setting, you will attend five days a week. After a few weeks, your attendance can be reduced as symptoms diminish and you are returning to work or school.
Does Acenda provide transportation for Adult Partial Care services?
Yes. Adult Partial Care provides transportation to and from the program for every person who attends.
What if I stop coming in?
Adult Partial Care participants are expected to attend program every day, barring illness or an appointment. If someone stops attending, we will meet with you first to discuss alternative options. Those who stop attending Adult Partial Care will no longer have their medical appointments.
Can you help me get a job?
Yes. Adult Partial Care staff can make a referral to the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVR) and the NJ Cape Diagnostic Center for work assessment.
How do I qualify for Adult Partial Care?
To be eligible for Adult Partial Care services, you must:
