New Jersey Statewide Student Support Services (NJ4S)

New Jersey Statewide Student Support Services (NJ4S) is a free mental health support for students, families, and educators. NJ4S helps students, caregivers, and schools navigate mental and behavioral health challenges through general prevention, small-group support, and individual counseling with licensed clinicians.

We’re here to help with:

    Identifying and treating depression and other mood disorders.

    Identifying and treating anxiety.

  • Mood Disorders

    Identifying and treating mood disorders.

  • Trauma

    Providing support to navigate traumatic events and aid in the healing process. 

  • Behavioral Challenges in Children & Teens

    Helping children and teens manage behavioral challenges while building healthy coping skills. 

  • Family Conflict

    Providing guidance and support to resolve family conflicts and strengthen relationships. 

  • Self-Esteem Struggles

    Offering support to build confidence, improve self-worth, and develop a positive sense of self. 

  • Substance Abuse

    Offering support and treatment options for managing substance use and promoting recovery. 

  • Grief & Loss

    Providing support and guidance to help you cope with loss, process emotions, and begin to heal.

    Connecting you to important resources to guide you through your wellness journey. 

Eligibility

To qualify, you must attend an NJ4S participating school and be in grades 6-12 in Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, or Salem counties. For more information on eligibility and referral click on the buttons below.

What to Expect 

  • Reaching Out

    NJ4S support can range from one-day services to multi-week programming. The frequency and duration of sessions are unique to each child.

  • Arranging Services

    Your child can participate in individual or group sessions, in-person or virtually. The frequency of sessions will be tailored to meet your child’s needs using NJ4S evidence-based practices.  

  • Moving Forward with Care

    NJ4S support services vary from one-day services to programming that take place over several weeks. The frequency and duration of sessions are unique to each child.

What ages does the NJ4S program work with? 

Our services currently serve students in 6th through 12th grade. 

Does my child need a referral for NJ4S? 

Yes, your child’s school or a community support program can refer your child for NJ4S services.

Is parental consent required for NJ4S services?

Yes, parental consents are required for students under 16 years old.

Where do NJ4S services take place?

Services are provided in-person (at a school or community-based space), virtually and in small-group, and individually.

How often will I meet with NJ4S? 

This varies based on the evidence-based practice being implemented. 

How do you qualify for NJ4S?

Students in grades 6-12 who attend an NJ4S-participating school in Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, or Salem County may be eligible with a referral from their school or another community resource.
