NJ Public Health Institute Board Selection Committee Seeks Applicants for PHI Board of Directors
Glassboro, NJ (April 6, 2023) – Acenda Integrated Health is serving as the “incubator” organization launching New Jersey’s first recognized Public Health Institute (PHI) which will help support the development of a next-generation, robust, public health infrastructure that addresses health and social needs in the context of equity and reducing longstanding health disparities. Team members have been meeting with local and state public health leaders as well as a variety of public health stakeholders such as health equity and social justice organizations to gather input and feedback on the strategic goals and priorities of the PHI.
The initial framework has been developed and applications are now being accepted for the Board of Directors for New Jersey’s organized PHI. This is a monumental moment because not only is this the first PHI in the country to be founded on a principle of health equity, but this Board will partner with state and local leaders in helping to shape the next generation of public health in this state.
The PHI Board of Directors will bring together leaders from the nonprofit and for-profit sectors who are dedicated to the organization’s mission and improving public health for the residents of New Jersey. Serving on the PHI Board is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about advancing equity in the public health sector, and in working with a diverse group of cross-sector experts to continue the prioritization of a culture of health. The inaugural PHI Board of Directors is expected to include some of the most notable thought leaders and community-focused stakeholders in the state of New Jersey. This Board will be the group that establishes the foundation upon which this important institution will be built.

Additionally, Acenda has launched a website to keep the community up to date on the development of the PHI. This informational website will not only include milestones and progress of the PHI but also resources for the community, video interviews with public health experts and a blog that focuses on the public health needs of our state’s citizens.
