Expectant and Parenting Youth program is a supportive housing model that supports expectant and/or parenting youth, ages 18 – 20.5 at intake, who are currently involved with the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P). These youth must be homeless or at risk of homelessness. This housing first program model supplements safe and stable housing for at-risk young adults with voluntary supportive services. Tenure in housing is not contingent upon participation in program services, and program rules are similar to those found in housing for the general population and do not restrict visitors or interfere with a life in the community. Parents may freely choose from a range of different types of support services they wish to receive based on their individual needs and preferences. Parents not interested in participating in program services will receive routine visits from staff, to provide resource information, ensure their needs are being met and readily engage them in services should they choose to participate at a later date.
