Winter Activities for Family Fun

It’s Getting Cold Out There

The winter season has arrived and it’s the time of year when we just want to cuddle up under a warm blanket and enjoy some hot chocolate. And with Covid-19 still prevalent, we will be spending even more time at home than usual. Whether you enjoy outdoor winter activities or just keeping warm by the fireplace, there are many fun family winter activities for all ages. As the temperatures drop, try these activities for fun!

Game night

Whether it’s a board game, charades or hide and seek, kids and adults alike will look forward to game night.  It’s the perfect way to spend time together.  With the pandemic affecting gatherings, you can also coordinate a virtual game night through ZoomHouseparty, or other video platforms and invite family members and friends to join in.

Cooking up a storm!

It’s cold, maybe even snowy, and you have nowhere to go. Get the recipe book out and see what you can come up with. It’s a fun way to involve the kids in learning to be creative and cook something delicious to enjoy.

Winter cleaning

We’ve all heard of spring cleaning, but why not partake in winter cleaning as well?  When you are stuck inside, take a look at what rooms could use sone tidying up or rearranging and get to work.  Assign tasks to all of the members of the household.  You will feel a sense of accomplishment when you see the results!

Go Sledding

Sledding is a great way to get some exercise and breathe in the fresh air.  Grab your sled, find a hill, and take off!  Young and old can take part.

Acenda’s Family Success Centers, family-centered neighborhood gathering places where residents go for family support, interactive workshops, activities, and groups, will be hosting safe virtual events this winter for all to participate in. For more information on our Family Success Centers and upcoming activities, visit www.acendahealth.org/programs/family-success-centers.
