Our donors and volunteers make the community a better place for our children and families. In our series, Why I Give, we put the spotlight on some of the generous individuals helping to move our communities forward. This month we are recognizing Debra Noll, Board of Trustee and long time supporter of Acenda's mission.
Debra Noll
Supporter Since 2004 | Acenda Board of Trustee
When did you first get involved with Acenda?
In 2004, our dear friends Kevin and J Becica invited me and my husband Chris to attend the annual fall gala. We had such a great time and I was at the point in my life where I could get involved with volunteering. That was over 17 years ago, and since then I have held numerous positions as part of the board of trustees, and I am currently on the executive committee as Development Chair.
What attracted you to the Acenda mission?
The mission of Acenda, formerly Robins' Nest, is so important! What the organization does for children and families is so worthwhile. The idea of serving others was instilled in me from an early age. I grew up in a family that was engaged in the community and volunteering; we all pitched in, even as kids, to help others.
Why do you support Acenda?
The mission of Acenda truly tugs at my heartstrings. My husband and I are fortunate to have the means to give back and doing so is incredibly gratifying.
Do you have an anecdote about Acenda that really moved you?
Hearing testimonials from Acenda clients, especially those that speak at the annual galas, really moves me. Knowing we are changing the lives of so many is truly amazing.
What would you tell to others interested in getting involved with Acenda?
The work we do as volunteers is so satisfying. It makes you feel better to know you are helping the lives of those in need. If you can change one person's life, you have made a difference.
Thank you, Debra Noll, for sharing your Acenda story! If you are interested in getting involved with Acenda, visit our get involved page or email development@acendahealth.org for upcoming opportunities.
