Boost Your Mental Health with Acts of Kindness

We have all heard the saying "it's better to give than to receive."  Well, there is actually evidence that supports this.  Being kind to others creates a sense of happiness and makes us feel good, which can lead to less stress and increased feelings of positive emotions.

But what actually is kindness?  Kindness is when you CHOOSE to do something that is helpful and uplifting for someone else and putting someone else before yourself.

Here are a few ways you can be kind everyday.

Use your manners.  It can be that simple, a thank you, please, excuse me is a way to interact with others.  Make sure to do it with a smile!

Send a REAL card.  Taking the time to purchase a card for someone's special occasion or just because, can easily lift someone's mood.

Help a stranger.   Help someone carry something if they need help, hold the door for others, buy the coffee of the person behind you.  These small gestures will be sure to surprise someone and brighten their day.

Bake a treat.  Bake some cookies or a cake and take them to a neighbors house, just because.

Let someone go ahead of you in line.   If the person behind you only has a few items, let them go in front of you and hope that one day they will pay it forward.

Volunteer.  Volunteering is a great way to give back and help others.
