Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service 2020
We would like to thank the more than 30 volunteers who came out to our Glassboro headquarters to celebrate and honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through a day of service. Volunteers from the Gloucester County NAACP, including its president Loretta Winters, Gloucester County Freeholder Jim Jefferson, and Miss Monmouth County, Adele Ann Taylor, as well as Acenda COO Melissa Fox, and Bethel A.M.E. Church of Woodbury, all gathered to assemble baby bundles for new moms in our maternal health programs, non-perishable food baskets for young adult in our supportive housing programs, and a ‘thank you’ mailing for our generous supporters.
Loretta Winters, Gloucester County NAACP President added, “It is a privilege to honor the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on this day with our community partner, Acenda. Dr. King was a champion of the poor and oppressed. In order to keep his dream of equality, freedom, justice and peace alive, we must continue the fight to eradicate racial discrimination.”
It was truly an inspiring day of service, as so many of our community members came together to help those in need who are entrusted in our care. To learn about our volunteer opportunities, visit the Get Involved tab on our website: www.acendahealth.org.
