Four Family Fun Spring Activities

Spring time is quickly approaching and after a bitter winter, it’s about time for everyone to stretch out their legs and head outside for some much needed sunshine. With the warm weather comes more opportunities for children and their families to get together and bond during outdoor activities that are both entertaining and pretty near inexpensive. Check out our list of top family-fun spring activities and events happening in your community.

1. Take Advantage of the Pine Barrens

South Jersey is dominated by the Pine Barrens where local hiking trails tend to be level and soft, making them super easy for young children or older adults to enjoy. It’s the perfect place for people of all ages to soak up some much needed Vitamin D and appreciate the beautiful scenery that our state has to offer. Many of these parks that have trails also have bike paths and picnic areas making it the ideal budget-friendly place for a family to spend the day.
 

2. Hit the Boards

Not only does South Jersey have its natural woodland landscapes to boast, but it also has some of the best beaches and boardwalks that the state has to offer. Even
though we still have a few months before it’s bathing suit season, the boardwalk is still a worthy place to visit and stretch your legs after being cooped up all winter. If you want to take advantage of that salty ocean breeze and entertain your little one for hours, bring a kite to the beach!

3. Find Your Green Thumb

New Jersey isn’t called the Garden State for no reason, so take some time this spring to practice your gardening skills either at your home or at a community garden. For those who are beginners in the gardening world, sunflowers and marigolds are an excellent place to start because they return annually, are relatively low maintenance, and will be blooming by the end of spring and beginning of summer. Nothing says that spring is here quite like the smell of fresh flowers!

4. Check Out What's Going on in Your Town
