Why I Give
Our donors and volunteers make the community a better place for our children and families. In our new series, Why I Give, we will put the spotlight on some of the generous individuals helping to move our communities forward.
Here’s an insider’s look into why Matt Jakubowski has shared his time and talents to further our mission since 2015.
What attracted you to the Acenda mission?
All of the programs and services at Acenda are impactful; however, the programs that inspire me most are those that target children struggling with behavioral health issues in the community.
In your opinion, what is the most important work that Acenda does?
Keeping Families Together is so important. Many of us take the relationships we have with friends and family for granted and simply expect them to be as wonderful as they are. Certain families battle with addiction, mental health or other challenges that can separate children from the most important people in their lives— their parents. The community-based supports Acenda provides helps educate and support these families to help avoid those traumatic experiences.
Why do you volunteer/donate?
Year after year, Acenda proves to be a well-run, mission centric organization. I am confident that the time I invest, and donations I make to this organization, will make my community a better place to live and work.
Why is being a donor so important to you?
All good people in this world want to make a positive impact. There are so many ways to do so; however, financially supporting prominent and well-run social service agencies is a simple way to do that.
Do you have a message to share?
I admire the staff at Acenda. Possessing the skills to serve vulnerable populations is truly a gift that many of us do not have. While it may be difficult, Acenda’s mark on the world is and will continue to be great.
