How do you measure your success?
Success is simply defined as the accomplishment of one’s goals. Another definition explains success as a measurement of wealth, position, or honors. Additionally, with the increased use of social media platforms, we often find ourselves comparing our success to the lives of others who are going on exotic vacations, getting promotions at work, or getting married. It can make you feel insignificant when your life doesn’t seem as exciting and successful as others. But what does success really mean? For that, you need to determine your own meaning of success.
Here are some other ways to look at your own success:
Having a purposeful life. Everyone has different goals in life, but it is important to have a definite goal and a strong desire to achieve it. Maybe your goal is to further your education, grow your career, or start a family. No matter what desire it may be, if your goal is thought out and intentional, or has purpose, you can achieve success.
Believing in yourself. If you believe in yourself, you have faith that you are capable of doing something. This makes you confident that you can be successful. When you have self belief, you will tend to live a life that you want, and not one based on the success of others.
Owning your own choices. This is the same as taking responsibility for your own actions. It is okay to fail, and you will, everyone does, but instead of blaming others, it’s important to look at your mistakes and learn from them. This will help you find personal fulfillment and feel good about your achievements.
Generosity. When you give to others, no matter how big or small, you can’t help to have a warm and happy feeling. This can have a positive impact on the way you live your life and the choices you make. It can also make the lives of others as well as your own, a happier and more successful one.
Satisfaction. Satisfaction is an internal feeling and is hard for other people to judge. People often want more… more money, more things, more experiences, but being content, or satisfied, means we are happy with what we have, which can be a true measure of success.
Though it is hard not to compare yourself to others, it is important to define what success means to you, and then setting goals and staying focused on what is important to you.
