Atlantic County Council for Young Children

Atlantic County Council for Young Children provides parents, caregivers, and community members with an opportunity to improve the Health and Education outcomes for children from birth through 8 years of age. Atlantic CCYC educates families through workshops and trainings specific to their needs. Parent leadership opportunities and initiatives are community driven. The Council meets regularly throughout Atlantic County in Egg Harbor Township, Hammonton and Pleasantville to identify challenges and concerns. Families can enroll by contacting Clecy Romen (info below) or by completing the registration form.

Creative Visitation

Creative Visitation provides supervised visits between children in foster care and their parents, relatives, and siblings with the goals of promoting permanency, maintaining the family-child bond, and improving parent-child interactions. Visit coaches help parents appropriately identify and meet their child’s needs during visits, and work to teach, model, and coach parents on appropriate and effective parenting skills.

Electronic Monitoring Program and Supervised House Arrest

The Electronic Monitoring Program and Supervised House Arrest works with the Family Court and Juvenile Probation to provide around the clock supervision for youth that are awaiting sentencing.

Family Connections

The Family Connections Program provides intensive in-home services including concrete supports such as home management, budgeting, skill building, advocacy, and linkages to community resources to enhance protective factors. Family and individual therapy are also provided to help improve parent-child dynamics, address trauma, and enhance family functioning and well-being. Family Counseling & Therapy

Qualified Acenda staff work with families to better parenting skills and offer community resources for their children to receive the necessary care to grow and develop. Our focus is to promote positive parenting, child wellbeing, and strong family bonds. Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) PCIT is a fun, interactive therapy for children ages 2 to 8 and their parents. We help parents learn effective ways to get a child’s undesirable behaviors to stop. Undesirable behaviors exhibited by children include disruptiveness, acting out at school or home, failure to pay attention or follow simple directions, and having frequent temper tantrums. Parent Management Training Negative behaviors in the home can have long-term effects for both parents and teenagers/pre-teens. This evidenced based therapy helps families learn successful ways of interacting. Telehealth Services Our top priority is providing additional care for those experiencing stress and anxiety due to the stressors due to these extraordinary circumstances. Family Court Counseling

The Family Counseling Program provides short-term family counseling for at-risk youth referred by Children’s Mobile Response, the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P), and other agencies. The program is designed to address the needs of children and their families related to one or more of the following areas: family conflict, truancy, threats of running away, safety concerns and issues related to past or future legal involvement. The program works to stabilize the child and family and support positive behavioral change in the context of outpatient family therapy.

Family Outreach

Family Outreach Program is an in-home therapeutic program, providing family-centered interventions to parents and children, psychoeducation, support, advocacy and linkages community resources to support and empower families. Therapists work with the whole family to provide them with tools they need to set and achieve life domain goals, support each other, enhance their protective factors and achieve long-term stability. Family Outreach II

The Family Outreach II program provides in-home counseling, skill building, life skills training, resource education, and assistance for families and children, with the goal of improving family functioning and well-being. Family Preservation Services

Family Preservation Services provides intensive in-home crisis intervention and family education for families at imminent risk of abuse/neglect or out of home placement or recently reunified with goals to ensure child safety, well-being, and permanency. Staff works with families to ensure child safety, create stability, prevent out-of-home placement, improve family functioning, and link families with appropriate community resources.

Family Success Centers

Family Success Centers are community-based, family-centered neighborhood gathering places where community residents go for family support, interactive workshops, activities, and groups. Family Success Centers are beautiful spaces designed to bring the community together to build relationships, strengthen the community and the families in it. They are places where residents and volunteers share their time and talent to build community capacity and enrich the lives of community members, and make families and neighborhoods stronger. A variety of family friendly events take place each month. We offer fun and educational workshops and activities, connection to resources, and volunteer opportunities. Family Ties

Family Ties provides supervised and progressive visitation for children in foster care and their parents. Visit coaches guide parents in meeting their children’s needs during weekly visits, with the goal of achieving reunification and permanency within 12 months. Therapists work with select parents and families to address needs related to their child’s permanency.

Gloucester County Prevention Program

Gloucester County Prevention Program provides short term case management and support for families living in Gloucester County that have primary custody of at least one child under the age of 18 and are experiencing hardship or instability. Financial assistance to assist with instability is available as appropriate.

Healing Hearts & Minds (HHM)

Healing Hearts and Minds (HHM) is a free and voluntary program that helps parents with pre- and post-substance use treatment. We provide clinical services to parents and their entire families throughout the recovery process. Therapists will provide services helping to better you and your family's lives by assisting with coping skills, fostering healthy parent-child interactions, processing trauma, teaching healthy relationship skills, learning boundaries, and other therapeutic interventions as needed.  Peer recovery specialists will be available for additional recovery support, case management needs, and resource linkages. Who is Eligible? Parents of children 0-17 who reside in Ocean, Atlantic, or Cape May Counties with current or recent substance use. What is the referral process? Intensive Family Support Services

Intensive Family Support Services (IFSS) provides support services to the families of the mentally ill through a network of social, community and group gatherings. IFSS services include educational presentations, one-on-one counseling and intervention, as well as respite care to lighten the load for families caring for mentally ill loved ones. IFSS can help your family navigate the mental health system to get access to the services you’re entitled to. IFSS also seeks to help reduce the burden and frustration that often goes hand in hand with caring for a family member with a serious mental illness. Our IFSS team is experienced in communicating on your behalf with other provider agencies that can be of value to your loved ones. Through IFSS, families can also learn skills to help them be effective advocates for themselves and their mentally ill relatives. We offer workshops throughout the year on medications, treatment options and coping strategies. Guest speakers cover a wide range of topics from relapse, crisis intervention and estate/future planning to employment and housing options.

Keeping Families Together

Keeping Families Together provides both short and long-term supportive housing for high risk families who have a current or ongoing history of homelessness, with children at risk of removal or soon to be reunified. The program provides housing resource specialty, case management, therapy and support groups to families who receive either a program-based or rental assistant voucher.

Parent Support Services

Parent Support Services provide in-home and concrete services to link parents to community resources and provide skill building necessary for reunification to occur or to stabilize those reunified within the last month. Staff work to model and coach parents on basic skill development, such as budgeting, employment, and housing, so that the parent can provide a safe, stable home environment for their children upon reunification. Parents must be involved with the Division of Child Protection and Permanency.

Strengthening Foster Children and Families

 The Strengthening Foster Children and Families (SFCF) program provides in-home counseling for children in out-of-home care whose goal is reunification with their biological family. The program works with both foster children and their resource parent(s), with the goals of enhancing the child and family relationship and improving the child’s behavior in order to stabilize the placement or reduce the number of disruptions. The program works with resource families who are in need of loss and separation education, building attachment, and improving their foster child’s home and school behaviors. All children who have experienced trauma would benefit. Resource parent participation is required.

Therapeutic Visitation Services

In our Therapeutic Visitation Services program, therapists and visit coaches provide progressive visitation and therapeutic support for children who are in out of home placement who are likely to be reunified with their families within 9-12 months. Staff coach and guide parents in meeting their children’s needs during weekly visits, with the ultimate goal of achieving reunification and permanency.
